Your BRT Maintenance

The BRT has a coat that is not fur. Its hair. Therefore, if not maintained it will continue to grow. They do not have a shedding cycle but will lose some hair in the home. There are many people who find them to be hypoallergenic. For this to be true, the breed needs regular grooming and weekly brushing. If left unattended the hair can tangle and get matted. It is not unusual for a BRT to have a modest clipping all over the body. A show standard cut is more detailed and uses shears, clippers and combing. There is a fall over the eyes. This is hair that covers the eyes. It can be tide up with a hairband or braided. The reason for the fall is said to prevent the eyes from reflecting light in the night time to prevent detection.
